Ok, here is the rest of the video from a few weeks ago.  We were shooting an ACTS match (www.actshooters.com) The event was hosted by a club named Centerline of Calhoun County in Bellevue, Michigan. (www.CenterlineofCalhoun.org)

In the first stage you are supposed to put at least two shots into each target from behind the barrels (only the best two count, as long as you don’t hit a hostage).  You have to switch hands on each side of the barrel to expose as little of yourself as possible.  I am the third shooter and my rifle (a borrowed AR15) puked after the first shot.   I had a new shell in the chamber but I could not get the bolt to close!  So I gave up and went to my pistol (my own Glock 17).   I forgot to change hands between sides and got a penalty for it.   I also hit two hostages (the ones with their hands up).  You can see where I get a warning about my muzzle swinging around when I kneel down at the second barrel.  That’s another big rule.  Never let your muzzle break the 180 degree plane.  Which means don’t point it sideways or behind you.

You can see some of the guys are really good.  I also noticed that video really shows your weaknesses.  I can clearly see the many things I need to work on.

In the Second Stage you have to reload between target groups. Everyone messed this one up. It was a trick. The stage designer set us up. We were only alowed 8 round per mag but the targets were grouped in three’s, so we should have dumped partial mags to get the timing right. In a fire fight you reload whenever you can – not when you run out! Nobody did that. We were also supposed to switch hands coming back and about half of the guys did and half did not. I meant to, but forgot to do it. You can see I had a few ammo failures but the gun I was using (a borrowed AK47 this time) is easy to clear. Its got a HUGE charging handle and you just reach over (or under) and give it a pull. You can see me do it right after I head back from the barrel half way through.

I will post more when I go again in March. I will be using my own rifle by then I hope. Stay tuned…
